Em Spakoski

Em Spakoski is a ceramicist intent on creating a peculiar world inhabited by colorful, anthropomorphic sculptures. They take solace in sculpting fleets of colorful creatures, and often imagine them trading sly glances while whistling little ditties under their breath. Em is charmed by the vivid palettes and brightly-toned contrast of the cartoonish, playful scenes that are so often found within children's stories. The liveliness of inanimate storybook objects leaves them dreaming that their toaster can giggle and whisper, that their oven is a potbellied beast. By giving life to pieces that fall within the realms of both wild fancy and simple necessity, Em encourages viewers to cast their everyday surroundings into a fantastical light.
