Student Spotlight: Candice Moy

Meet Sharon Art Studio member and student Candice Moy. She has been coming to the studio since 2017 and has been taking classes in ceramics.  We recently interviewed Candice for our Student Spotlight series. In this interview, Candice Moy discusses with our Program Manager, Cassandra Sechler, her creative process, artist background, passion for ceramics, and her relationship to Sharon Art Studio.

Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the questions!

Q: When/How did you discover your passion for making art? What was your first ceramic art project?

I did not have any experience working with clay until I was an adult.  My first exposure to pottery was throwing on a kickwheel outside the art shack during our annual week of  summer family camp at Lair of the Bear.  I produced many small “pistachio” bowls. I realized quickly that two or three days of clay a year was not enough.”

Q: What inspires your ceramic designs?

“I enjoy making functional pieces with simple shapes. Edith Heath and many of my Sharon Arts instructors inspire me.  I especially love throwing bowls. I call it my bowl therapy because it allows me to focus on mindfulness and tune out any other thoughts.”

Q: What do you love most about Sharon Arts Studio?

“I keep signing up every session because of the community that Sharon Arts fosters. There are not many ceramics studios in San Francisco that have a high fire kiln.  The selection of glazes also is unparalleled.  My favorite Sharon tradition is the potluck held on the last class each session. Sharon Arts is truly a treasure.”

What a wonderful student spotlight on Candice Moy! It is truly inspiring to read about her creative journey from trying out pottery during a summer family camp to discovering her deep passion for ceramics at Sharon Art Studio. Her dedication to crafting functional pieces with simple shapes, like her beautiful pistachio bowls, beautifully highlights how engaging in artistic expressions can serve as a form of mindful therapy. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule or a busy professional routine can be tough, much like trying to navigate a challenging childcare assignment help resource when balancing studies and home life, but finding a creative outlet like ceramics offers the perfect mental escape. The supportive community, high fire kiln, and unique glaze selection at…

Blue paint has remained one of the most timeless automotive colors because it looks attractive on almost every vehicle style imaginable. This lasting popularity keeps blue car names in demand among drivers who want something creative but still classy and versatile. Some owners prefer aggressive blue car names that emphasize speed and power, while others choose softer names inspired by oceans, rain, or peaceful skies. Names like Storm Chaser, Blue Velvet, Ocean Ghost, and Sapphire Bolt remain common choices among car enthusiasts. A carefully selected nickname can reflect the owner’s personality while also highlighting the special appearance of the vehicle. Strong names often become memorable parts of the driving experience itself.

When I first heard about the Rice Purity Test, I didn’t expect it to be so widely discussed. It’s interesting how something so simple can become a trend. However, it’s essential to approach it with a sense of humor and avoid taking the results too seriously or personally.
