Susan Gold

Ceramics

Susan Gold is a ceramics instructor whose passion for wheel‑thrown forms began during her college years. She honed her craft at Alfred University’s prestigious summer program under the guidance of Daniel Rhodes and Val Cushing. In 1978, Susan earned her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Visual Arts, and went on to complete an M.A. in Creative Arts Education at San Francisco State University in 1987.

Susan delights in closed‑form vessels and continually experiments with a variety of vase shapes and throwing techniques. In her instructional practice, Susan places particular emphasis on proper throwing posture and ergonomics, helping students develop healthy techniques that minimize strain on the body while maximizing control at the wheel.
