Flowers: Beautiful and Symbolic

Hello all!

I have been super busy working away in the studio, as well as helping out with the classes, but it's safe to say that progress is being made. When I arrived in June, I felt like I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to create, but as I started working, my vision slowly evolved.

The original idea was centered around self-love and mindfulness in our everyday lives. As my work has been progressing, I realized that it is more about self-care and learning to love yourself as you move through life. This could be through shared experiences or your own independent journey. I chose flowers as my main focus because they are inherently beautiful and often symbolic. Originally, I thought of using lotus flowers, the cliché symbol for mindfulness. But this journey has grown to be about more than just mindfulness; it’s about the journey to contentment in your own mind and body. There are so many steps to getting there, and my hope is that the pieces I create will resonate with your journey as they resonate with mine.

I am really enjoying my time in San Francisco, the cold is definitely growing on me! The city is so vibrant and the atmosphere is so inspiring. I'm also super excited about the next youth camp session. I'm looking forward to seeing what the teens will create, as they constantly surprise me with their creativity and fresh perspectives! Thank you all for your continued support. Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to explore and create during my time here!

Warm regards,

Sierra Apicella
