Marco Flavio
Fine Arts
Marco Flavio. A classically trained artist from Rome, Italy, Marco teaches students to capture the spirit of living things in original watercolor paintings. No experience is required for his indoor watercolor workshops, where anyone can learn to use dynamic lines and glowing colors to bring life to still life paintings of flowers, fruit and vegetables. From the very first class, Marco’s students become painters, picking up fundamentals of proportion, value and color mixing as they create watercolor paintings. Students quickly progress to advanced techniques, including color charging, glazing, washes and composition.Â
Over 20 years as a San Francisco artist and arts educator, Marco has been featured in shows and programs with the Asian Art Museum, the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Mission Cultural Center, and the Museo Italoamericano. He has earned global recognition in Japan, Canada, the US and Italy for his series of artworks on paper, from At Home Far Away woodblock print portraits honoring first-generation immigrants in San Francisco, to Found Flowers watercolors of floral tributes found in the Breast Cancer Memorial Garden.
