The Friends of Sharon Art Studio (FOSAS) is devoted to sustaining and enhancing the Sharon Art Studio's (SAS) goal to promote artistic development, craftsmanship, and creative expression. FOSAS works in cooperation with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department (SFRPD) to augment and add breadth to SAS's art programs. FOSAS believes that art education is an essential component to a healthy community and strives to ensure that quality, non-competitive art programs are affordable and accessible to all.
The Sharon Art Studio (SAS) is situated in an historic building in the eastern end of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. SAS is one of the largest community educational studios in the San Francisco Bay Area. It offers approximately 100 programs that are operated by both the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department (SFRPD) and the Friends of Sharon Art Studio (FOSAS). The programs include but are not limited to, hands-on workshops in Glass, Ceramics, Drawing, Watercolor, and Jewelry. Some classes are eight to ten week courses and others are one or two-day workshops. The program serves a diverse population of all ages.
