Trees of San Francisco

In this workshop, students will learn how to paint with oil in a non-toxic/sustainable way, while gaining a new appreciation for the trees in San Francisco - who will be serving as our muse for the class activity. We will do an overview of oil paints as a medium, their history, and a quick overview of color theory. Then diving right in, students will be guided on how to use paint brushes and a palette knife to create their own unique version of a tree of San Francisco (provided by the teacher). This workshop is perfect for both beginners and intermediate artists who want to learn the basics of oil painting, sharpen their eye for detail, all while focusing on one of the magnificent trees of San Francisco. By the end of the workshop, students will have a new set of oil painting skills and the proof to show for it! Their ready to frame piece of art will make for a great gift or home décor addition! 8"x10" canvas, palettes, palette knives, and cleaning materials provided. Students will be required to bring paint set and brushes, and be encouraged to bring an apron or wear clothes to get messy in. Please see materials list for what is required to bring to the workshop. Materials list available at sharonartstudio.org.
