Trace Monotypes

In this workshop you will learn the basic steps of the trace monotype process. This easy printing technique is called "trace monotype" because you trace the desired image on the back of the paper. The act of tracing the image transfers the ink to the paper, creating a one-of-a-kind print. In this workshop we will be using non-toxic, water-soluble printing inks. Prints will be hand-pulled without a press. No previous printing experience is needed. Materials provided. Students are encouraged to bring simple line drawings, photographs, or other simple imagery sized for a 6x9 plate. (Other images to trace will also be available in class.)
