Health and Safety Plan

Updated January 6, 2022

The Sharon Art Studio is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees and students to participate in all this studio has to offer. Art is essential to the mental and physical health of both individuals and the collective community. We also acknowledge the feelings of uncertainty as we return to the studio space during the pandemic.

The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department oversees this community art center and directs the policies and procedures to minimize the risk of transmission of Covid-19. The policies and procedures are in accordance with guidance provided by OSHA, the CDC, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health . We will continue to update and notify our community if and when protocols change. Thanks in advance for your care and cooperation in keeping our community a safe space.

To minimize the risk of transmission of Covid-19, the Sharon Art Studio has established the following active preventive policies and practices.

1. Facilities Cleaning

All publicly accessible spaces within the building are cleaned at least once a day; spaces with higher traffic (e.g. bathrooms) are cleaned more frequently based on need. High-touch surfaces are wiped and disinfected throughout the day. All staff, students, and building visitors are encouraged to wash and/or sanitize their hands frequently while inside the building. Hand sanitizer and/or soap and water are available in all publicly accessible building spaces.

2. Mask policy

Although California and San Francisco County will be suspending the mask requirement for fully-vaccinated individuals, we will continue to require masks for all staff, students, and visitors over the age of 2 during studio hours. When outdoors, we ask that everyone wear a mask when within six (6) feet of another person who is not a member of their household. Masks are readily available at our front desk for anyone who does not have one.

3. Vaccination policy

The Sharon Art Studio requires all staff to show proof of vaccination for Covid-19. For the purposes of this policy, a person is considered fully vaccinated either two weeks after receiving the second shot of a two-shot Covid vaccine (e.g. Pfizer and Moderna) or two weeks after receiving a single-shot Covid vaccine (e.g. Johnson & Johnson). All copies of proof of vaccination will be kept, in confidence, by the Executive Director and/or the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. Students are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated.

4. Guidelines for Shared Spaces

We have reduced class sizes to accommodate physical distancing. Windows and doors will be open for fresh air and ventilation, so please dress accordingly (layers!).  Due to Covid-19, snacks and class potlucks are not allowed indoors at this time. Covered drinks are OK. The kitchen will remain open to allow access to water, microwave, and the pottery sale area.

Procedures for Isolation and Quarantine

If you have Covid-19 or have been exposed to Covid-19 please stay or return home. See here for the most up to date guidance from the San Francisco Department of Public Health. All staff are required to follow the protocol outlined in this document under the direction of the Executive Director (Nicki Guard) and Studio Coordinator (Zach Canter).
