Ceramics Online Handbuilding

In this online series, Sharon Art Studio members will have an opportunity to explore a variety of ceramic hand building techniques from the comfort of their own home! Our talented instructor, Katina Price, will host a series of Friday afternoon online open forum meetings to connect and discuss ceramics in a casual and welcoming social hour. Price of the class includes a 25lb bag of clay and the choice of a variety of clay bodies. No clay from the outside is allowed. Our selection of glazes is unsurpassed and we fire cone 10 reduction -- all firing is done by instructors without a separate charge. Students must be available to pick up clay, drop off finished greenware pieces, and schedule a day to glaze on the dates listed on the registration page.

Portraiture

In this four week online class we'll explore portrait drawing from photographs. Each week a different viewpoint reference photo will be provided, covering the full frontal, profile, and three-quarter views. The instructor will demonstrate to start-off the class. The head-shot model, the person whose portrait we'll draw, will also differ each week. On the final meeting we'll experiment with various portrait sketches of each other via the Zoom platform!

Petite Porcelain

In this online class, you will have an opportunity to discover the qualities of porcelain clay while designing and making unique jewelry. Emphasize the smooth white surface of the clay or add texture with tools and stamps. All skill levels welcome. Students must be available to pick up clay, drop off finished greenware pieces, and meet in person to glaze on the dates listed in the expanded description.

Intermediate Watercolor

Drawing Water Reflections in Pencil

In this class you will learn how to expand your understanding of how to use a graphite pencil. Creating large tonal area, depicting detail and developing a wide range of values will be taught. Our subject matter will be water reflections. Learn how to use values and edge control to develop a realistic image of land and water. Basic drawing skills are required.

Drawing Water Reflections in Charcoal

Drawing with charcoal can create wonderfully dramatic images that incorporate both bold blacks and subtle greys. We will use both stick and pencil charcoal. Our subject matter will be water reflections and you'll learn how to use values and edge control to develop a realistic image of land and water. Basic drawing skills are required.

Drawing Studio ~ The Basics - Part 2

In this 4-week course, we will review the part 1 basics of expressive line quality, value and shading, and a short-cut to tackling perspective. Drawing Still Life with Grey Value Markers

Instructor:

Learn how to use markers that come in a variety of grey values to create still life that have boldness and details that pop. The markers we will be using have a dual tip so you can make wide strokes that fill a large space with one stroke and a brush tip to create calligraphy like marks.

Drawing Moving Water in Pencil
