Photography I for Teens

Instructor: Ariel Soto
Ages 11-15

?Calling all shutterbugs! Come join us this summer to learn the fundamentals of color photography including composition, portraiture, landscape and even a little fashion photography. Classes will include critiques and photo exhibitions around Golden Gate Park. Each student will have the opportunity to create a final portfolio that will be a compilation of their favorite and most successful photographs taken during the class. Students must bring their own 35mm camera or disposable camera. Film, film processing and portfolio-making materials w

Art-in-the-Park & TGIF Fun

Summer Youth Art Camps 2008

A summer art enrichment program offered at the Sharon Art Studio, Art-in-the-Park offers campers instruction in a wide variety of artistic disciplines. The program generally meets Monday through Thursday from 9am-12:30pm. Each day campers rotate throughout the studio to explore exciting media such as wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics, stained and fused glass, drawing and bookmaking. To complete the week we offer TGIF Fun: Drawing in the Park in conjunction with the Art-in-the-Park program. TGIF meets on Fridays from 9 am - 12:30 pm. Students are taken on walking field trips in the park and given an opportunity to expand their drawing skills, sketching in the Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers and DeYoung Museum.

Session 1: Art Explosion! 7/14 - 7/17

Work with a variety of materials including paint, color pencils and markers, paper mache and mixed media for collage & sculpture.

Day 1: Paper Mache masks and sculptures / Day 2: Acrylic Paintings on wood panels
Day 3: Mixed media collage & sculpture / Day 4: Drawing & Cartooning

Session 2: Drawing and Cartooning Workshop 7/21 - 7/24

Students will be given opportunity to work with a variety of fabulous drawing materials including, pencils, color pencils, pens, markers, sparkly pens, charcoal and pastels. They will learn about many different artists and their drawing techniques, then spend time working on their own drawing skills while using various drawing materials.

Session 3: Art Explosion! 7/28 - 7/31

Explore textile arts from around the world then have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques, including tye dye, fabric painting & batik. Students will also design and sew their own stuffed animals, dolls or imaginary creatures.

Learn about art from around the world, then create works of art inspired by the theme of the day
