Hands and Feet Drawing Workshop
Instructor: Sookyi Lee

It is generally thought that hands and feet are the hardest parts of the body to portray effectively in drawings. So don't despair if you can’t draw hands and feet properly. It takes a lot of practice!

This workshop will focus on drawing hands and feet in a constructive manner. The instructor will show with demonstrations how to simplify drawing the hands and feet of a life model. Students will learn about the essence of drawing, including basic anatomy, planes, light, shades and tones.

Many different techniques will be demonstrated, from the linear method with which the contours of shapes are sketched, to the structural method where the main areas are emphasized.

Colored Pencils: Capturing Natural Forms
Instructor: Mary Harden

?Colored pencils are inexpensive, easy to use and simple to transport. A large variety of colroed pencils from different manufactors will be provided for your use during the workshop, so that you can discover the differences and find which pencils you prefer. We will learn and practice the techniques of layering, burnishing, and “etching” for vibrant effects. Then we will apply these techniques to capture the tones and textures of a colorful plant subject that participants bring to the workshop.

A special note to our students:
Long-time colored pencil instructor Charles Stasek passed away last year. He was a wonderful artist, teacher, and friend. We will miss him dearly, and Friends of Sharon Art Studio instructor Mary Harden is looking forward to continuing his colored pencil workshop tradition.
