KIDS SUMMER CAMP CLASSES - Artapalooza | Art Explosion! | Art-in-the-Park

ARTAPALOOZA!
7/09-7/19

instructor: Jacqueline Ruben
AGES 6-8 & 9-11

Do you want to learn more about drawing, painting or making things? Then Artapalooza is just for you! Each day, we'll focus on different ways to make art, learn about different artists and how to talk about art. Since everyone has a special way of looking at the world, class projects will encourage and develop your personal artistic vision.

Draw Your Heart Out - Monday (Location: Carousel Room)
We'll learn how to make your drawings look real with shading and shadows, simple perspective, and different kinds of line. Graphite, ink pens, charcoal pencils, and colored pencils are some of the materials with which we'll experiment. We’ll use the beauty of Golden Gate Park as a source of inspiration.

Color Capers - Tuesday (Location: Jewelry Studio)
How do the different kinds of paint express different ideas and feelings?
We'll try thick and thin paints of tempera, acrylic, and watercolor with small brushes to see how we can tell a story that looks real or use lines and shapes to tell another kind of story. The wide world of color mixing is explored.

Express Yourself - Wednesday (Location: Carousel Room)
What is sculpture? How does a lump of air-dry clay or recycled objects turn into creative expression? We'll be working with air-dry clay, plaster gauze and wire, and other materials to create three-dimensional art.

Paper, Paint, and Prints - Thursday (Location: Carousel Room)
How is a print different from a painting or drawing? We'll find out a variety of ways of creating prints using special water-based inks and rollers. Some of our prints will be assembled into a collage, and a hand-made book.

You can sign up for just one or both sessions!
