PAINTING the ABSTRACT in NATURE
instructor: Vesta Kirby
level: beginning & experienced watercolorists

Painting the abstract in nature is an exciting exploration. It will give deeper insight and recognition of fundamental elements in nature for both abstract and realistic expression. Learn to "see" in a new way. Observation and a variety of methods to create paintings and drawings using line, form, structure, pattern, texture, scale and color from nature will be the focus of this class. Developing a way of seeing the abstract as it exists in nature, by looking beyond the surface of things, will enhance your art process and self-expression. No painting experience is necessary, bring your inspired self for an adventure in paint. Realistic painting will take on new life with the noticing/seeing exercises, and is certainly included in this class.

Choose your own water base paints: watercolor, gouache, acrylic or tempera. Pastels and colored pencils may also be used with any of the above. A material list to be provided upon registration and recommends inexpensive paints for the beginner.
