NATURAL DYEING WORKSHOP
Instructor:
Joy-Lily

Before chemical dyes were invented in the late 19th century, all fabric was dyed with plant parts like onion skins, marigold flowers, madder roots and acacia bark, and animals like cochineal bugs and murex snails. The craft of natural dyeing is experiencing a resurgence because they make subtle and beautiful colors and are very easy to use. We'll simmer up pots of several natural dyestuffs to color your woolen and silk yarns and fabrics. Overdyeing will produce even more colors. Instructor will collect $25 in class to cover the cost of the dyes. |
